Nightly Dreams

You ever have a dream where you wake up and no matter how stressed you were all week, you suddenly felt like everything is going to be all right? That for once you finally feel calm and cool again?

I had a dream like that the other night. I dreamt I was riding with my dad, driving around somewhere in my old home town (Geneva, Ohio). I think we were riding in a station wagon, but I’m not sure. On the radio was Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, and we were talking about folk music, discussing how the different styles evolved, our favorite old folk musicians, things like that.

I woke up with Hallelujah in my head and just a good feeling. Like a feeling of well being, like everything was all right. I hadn’t felt that in a long time. It was peace.

Strange how our mind does that.
