This story is the sequel to issue #14′s critically acclaimed The Ghosts We Have Become. Takes place directly after the events in both EV’s The Alchemy of War and The Ghosts We Have Become this story explores what its like to survive after s city has been bombed.

Lynn’s husband died in the bombing of Silas Bay, leaving her alone to struggle in a forgotten shell of a city. There she becomes a spy, joins a rebellion and struggles to define what had become of her life through photography. Her art then becomes both her savior and her damnation.

Excerpt:
Outside she heard the sounds of black dogs barking, their voices like the breaking of glass to her ears. It was the Yellow Coats.  They were out, hunting for survivors, for slaves in rebuilding the city in their image.  They had done this to us, Lynn thought, they have destroyed us. And now they want to remove any evidence that we had ever lived.

Lynn grabbed an old sack from the floor and shoved the camera inside, as well as several of her remaining photos and some photo paper. On top of that she placed a bag of some green tea leaves, and a few bottles of darkroom chemicals she had left.

Her husband’s body was in the basement.
